Today we held our first Skype link of the new academic year with our partner school in Bayeux. Children of Year 6 gathered around the screen to meet face to face with the children to whomthey have just written Christmas cards. The children exhanged information using their respective 'foreign' language - French for us! They then asked questions about each other's routines and experiences at school. The session finished with us singing a Christmas song to each other, our children enjoying our version of Pere Noel!

Today we held our assembly in St Peter's church and enjoyed the opportunity to sing some of our favourite carols with the church organ. A lovely occasion to bring the whole school together, in the build up to Christmas and the end of term, following the lower school nativity over the past few days.

  • Southern Region Milano Gymnastics Championship , Sunday 13th December 2015

    Sun 13 Dec 2015

ongratulations to the mixed team, Poppy Metcalfe, Tia Banger, Olivia Convery and Oliver Evans and the boys' team, Ted Quaife, Finley Howard and James McDonald who represented our school in the Southern Region Gymnastics Finals held in on Sunday. In the competition open to every primary school in the south of England, 4 mixed teams and 3 boys' teams in the took part in the U11 event. The children had to perform a floor routine, comprising 6 movements, with links leaps, balance and strength skills in addition to vaulting over the box and performing a group sequence to music.

Our gymnasts performed superbly from 11.30am, demonstrating confidence and skill on the 12 metre square of mats, followed by performing vaults with 'take off' from beyond 1m 30cm to demonstrate flight on and flight off the box. A long wait followed until 4pm when our turn to perform the group sequence which requires gymnasts to synchronise their movements as well as creating shapes and patterns in movement around the square of mats.

The level of competition was as tough as ever, but in true CSPA style, our gymnasts rose to the challenge and our mixed team won by a massive 6 point margin and our boys were just pipped at the post by 0.4 points, coming a fantastic second place. Both teams will go forward to represent the South of England in the National Finals in March! Well done!

Our children wore brand new tracksuits, generously sponsored by The Nick Ford Trust along with new kit bags. Grateful thanks to John Ford, past parent and friend of the school for once again providing these much needed funds to keep our kits looking magnificent and worthy of the high standards achieved in sport at our school. Many thanks also go to Amersham Fabrics for the embroidery of the Nick Ford Trust logo almost for free, in support of our school.

Huge thanks go to coach, John Underwood for his tireless enthusiasm and commitment to the school and to gymnastics.

Children of Year 5 and 6 at Chalfont St Peter CE Academy, brought the ‘West End’ to Chalfont St Peter this week, performing on a grand scale, their unique Christmas Production of ‘The Yellow Feather’. The musical production written by past music adviser, Paul Smith, produced and directed by Headteacher Elizabeth Underwood, was set in “Wonderland” and tells the story of the quest of two princes to determine which will succeed their father as King.  With 180 children on stage, the singing raised the roof and attracted audiences to pack the hall during a massive eight performances over two weeks!
Mr Paul Smith, retired music adviser for the county and composer of the music and songs said, “It was magnificent, as usual and as expected, the children sang their hearts out and yet again the school has achieved a triumph!”
Mrs Elizabeth Underwood,  Headteacher said,” I am so proud of the children; they work so hard to achieve such fantastic results in such a short timescale. Once again, they have brought the standard to a new level. Well done! “

  • Nine Lessons and Carols : 4th December 2015

    Sat 05 Dec 2015

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus that is traditionally followed at Christmas. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music.

This year CSPA set aside time during this busy advent period to produce a display relating to each of the nine readings in readiness for Chalfont St Peter's 'Fun Night'. Each class in Years 3-5, produced an artistic representation of their given reading.

Working with Luke Maxted from St Peter's Church, the displays were presented along Church Lane next to the Church Hall.

They attracted a lot of attention and provided an excellent example of our children's high quality art work.
