  • Watoto Choir Visit the Baptist Church in Chalfont St Peter: Thursday 30th April 2015

    Thu 30 Apr 2015

On Thursday, our Year 5 children visited the Goldhill Baptist Church to watch a concert by the Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda. It was a captivating afternoon of lively and moving music, song and dance. The children are orphans who live in the Watoto village with people who take care of them. The concert presents thier story of despair and then hope through their love of Jesus.

The concert was vibrant and moving and everyone enjoyed it enormously. Two of our children were invited to dance with the choir in a boys v girls dance off! The boys emerged victorious! All-in-all, a superb time was had by everyone and we wish the choir good luck as they continue their visit throughout the UK.

  • London Marathon 26th April 2015

    Sun 26 Apr 2015

Mrs Coker has completed the London Marathon 2015 in just over 5 hours! What an amazing achievement ! Despite a nasty fall, requiring attention from the St John's ambulance team, Mrs Coker was determined to get back on the course and finish. It seems likely that she may have sustained a rib injury but in spite of the pain she must be suffering, she was not going to give up. I received an elated phone call just before 5pm this afternoon, followed by this wonderful picture proudly displaying her medal! Congratulations and a huge, huge thank you to Mrs Coker and all of her family!! An amazing day!! I hope that a great deal of "TLC" is poured upon her this evening and a good rest!

Thank you to all of the parents and friends of the school who have generously sponsored Mrs Coker and we look forward to finding out the total raised very soon!

CONGRATULATIONS MRS COKER & THANK YOU!

    Update 12pm, Sunday.

Elaine Coker, mother of Ben and Max Coker ran the London Marathon today hoping to raise funds through generous sponsorship for the school. Mrs Coker, who has been training all year for this run has applied twice before to run the marathon and has been unlucky. This year however, she won her place and wearing the number "17676" was one of the 35,000+ people running this year!

Popping into assembly on Friday to show the children what she would be wearing, Mrs Coker showed them the knitted duck which her mother had knitted for her some years ago, which she would be carrying along the way. We will keep you posted as soon as we have any news of her achievement.

A Just Giving page for donations has been set up by Mrs Coker. Texts can be sent from your mobile phones to 70070, quoting CSPA00 followed by £5 or £10. There is no limit to the number of texts you can send! Please GIft Aid your donation for 25% extra to be added at no extra cost to you if you are a UK tax payer. All proceeds will be put towards the purchase of ipads for children's use in school, as part of our ICT upgrade project.

  • School Music Concert 23rd April 2015

    Thu 23 Apr 2015

Another splendid concert took place this year providing an excellent display of talent amongst our children. Performers from all year groups played a wide variety of musical instruments either individually or in groups, the size growing to our complete orchestra and swing band. Mrs White, our specialist music teacher coordinated the evening with the support of peripatetic music teachers and members of staff who supported the organisation of the children.

With over a hundred children learning a musical instrument in school in addition to the curriculum-based lessons for all children, the evening was a celebration of the enthusiasm for music within the school and the wonderful confidence our pupils have to perform in front of an audience.

  • Year 3 Visit to Neasden Temple 2015

    Tue 21 Apr 2015

Year 3 enjoyed their visit to Neasden temple on Tuesday, 21st April.

The day gave them an understanding of how the impressive building was created in 1995 largely by volunteers using imported marble from Italy and limestone from Bulgaria. The intricate carvings were completed by experienced stonemasons in India before being shipped to London to be assembled. The temple will have its 20th anniversary in August this year. With a visit to an exhibition, a walk around the temple itself in addition to being spectators at a ceremony, the children had lots of questions to ask and conducted themselves superbly.

Having joined the trip myself this year, I felt proud of the children who represented the school so well and to receive praise on their behalf from the staff who conducted the visit. Well done Year 3!

Quotes from the children following the visit:

"It was like a different world!" Bee

"The exhibition was really interesting." Nicole

"When we wnet inside, it was enormous." Adam

"There were lots if things to do such as watching the Hindu ceremony." Ella

"It made me feel very small when I went inside." George

"I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the temple." Tabitha

  • South Bucks Junior Schools Table Tennis Finals 15th April 2015

    Wed 15 Apr 2015

CSPA completed our TT season on a high, winning 4 out of 4 of the South Bucks Junior Schools’ TTA’s Cup Finals. Our boys’ team comprising Louis Basnayake, Oliver Evans and Sonny Dalston were convincing winners by winning all but 1 of the 9 matches in the final. The boys show tremendous potential for challenging next year’s national tournaments! Our Y5 girls, Savanna O’Regan, Annabel and Emma Rayner had a very difficult task against the opposition which proved too strong but they came very worthy runners-up. Year 6 boys, Marcus and Seb Los and Sam Fenner faced a very tough task in the final but brought out their best to win 6 games to 3. Our Year 6 girls, Betsy Godfry, Maddy Kirkby, Ellie Lothian and Ella Radcliffe retain the U11 girls’ trophy. Well done to all players!

This term, we turn our attention to prepare players for the following season, including the introduction of new players from Yr3 as well as giving the opportunity to various new players from Yr4 and Yr5 to join some of the existing players from these age groups.  There are trials being held on the following dates from 3.20 pm – 4.30 pm for any child interested in attending.  Please see Mrs Rowley or the school office for a letter.
