  • Southern Region Floor and Vault Championships, 31st January 2016

    Sun 31 Jan 2016

On Sunday it was the turn of the school's gymnastics teams, participating in the U11 Southern Region Floor and Vault Championships held at St Mary's School, Gerrards Cross. To continue the success for Chalfont St Peter Academy, following an enthralling morning's gymnastics our gymnasts won their way through to the national finals in May, by winning the U11 mixed team championships and the boys also coming out top in their category, both teams winning gold medals and the title. Our young girls' team made up of members of year 4 and 5 just missed out on a medal but performed brilliantly on the day.

Thank you to our parents for their wonderful support and also to John Underwood for his continued enthusiasm and expert coaching.

Both girls' and boys' teams performed brilliantly throughout the day, as the girls just missed out on first place, achieving a very creditable runners-up position in the championships.. This success qualifies both Chalfont St Peter teams for the National Regional finals in March, to be in in Bristol for the boys and Bournemouth for the girls.
  • Student conference 27th January 2016

    Wed 27 Jan 2016

Nine Y6 pupils, elected by their peers participated on Wednesday in our first student conference. Pupils from several local schools joined together to engage in workshops focused on:

    • Equality & Diversity
    • Healthy Lifestyles and
    • Friendships & Bullying

Presentations by some secondary student-leaders prompted animated responses and discussion. Our pupils spoke with maturity and displayed good  general knowledge before creating large-scale display posters to record their contributions.
We intend to follow-up with workshops which our ambassadors can deliver to other children at our school. Well done to: Cormac Gilmore, Matthew Aldred, Harry Vintner, Joel Lewis, Calum Prieg, Victoria McMullen, Katie Atkinson, Daina Jenkins and Savanna O’Regan! It was lovely to see some of our past pupils as student-leaders on the day!

  • Sign2Sing 2016

    Wed 13 Jan 2016
Children at CSPA have been learning to sing with sign language in a bid to raise money to help vulnerable deaf children in the UK and Uganda. Chalfont St Peter Church of England Academy is taking part in sign2sing, a fundraising event organised by Beaconsfield-based Deaf Health Charity SignHealth.
The school received a special visit from Deaf Pop Star Fletch, who taught Year 5 children the song and signs.   The children will now be passing on their new skills to fellow pupils in preparation for sign2sing, which takes place between 1-7 February.
Headteacher, Elizabeth Underwood said:“The children were really excited to meet Fletch and picked up the song and signs really quickly.  With the help of the Year 5 pupils and the wonderful resources provided by sign2sing, the other children at the school should soon be just as good. The school has taken part in sign2sing in previous years so we know that it is a fun way to raise funds for a really important cause. The children really enjoy getting involved, you can see their confidence grow as they learn the song and signs.”
There is still time for other schools, businesses, choirs and community groups to take part in sign2sing.  You don’t need to be an expert signer or an excellent singer as all the resources needed to take part are available if you register, including backing tracks and video tutorial.
    To register go to www.sign2sing.org.uk.
