Regional National Table Tennis Finals in Bristol Sunday 5th March 2017

Congratulations to our boys’ and girls’ teams for qualifying for the Regional Finals last month.  Sunday proved a very tough competition with players all performing at a high standard.

The girls played against some strong teams and improved as the day progressed, finishing in 4th place, which placed them in the top 16 schools in England. The boys battled really well and won their matches until the very last one when they faced a London Academy School and despite giving their best, not quite enough to beat them.

The boys finished as Runners-Up and placed them in the top 8 schools in England.Well done everyone and to parents who travelled the 110 miles to Bristol on time!

  • World Book Day

    Thu 02 Mar 2017

World Book day 2nd March 2017

The children and staff had great fun celebrating World Book Day yesterday. The costumes looked amazing - we had characters ranging from Harry Potter and the Wimpy Kid to Alice in Wonderland and Snow White. The hall was bursting at the seams with so many beautiful books - probably a couple of thousand! There was a lovely buzz of excitement as children chose their books and redeemed their tokens. It provided a wonderful way of 'recycling' books and promoting enjoyment of reading. Thank you to all who participated this year.

  • Ash Wednesday

    Wed 01 Mar 2017

    Ash Wednesday 1st March 2017

Wednesday this week was the first day of Lent in the Christian calendar. Children participated in a lovely service in the church introduced and concluded by our Curate, Ben Topham but led by some of our Year 6 children. The children learned about Jesus going into the wilderness and being tempted and had the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and temptations. Children were given an acrostic to remember based on the word LENT:

L: LISTEN – to God, to yourself and reflect on who you are in Him.

E: ENGAGE – in work, worship and prayer to help you feel closer to God.

N: NOTICE – those areas of your life which need to be changed (ask God to change them in you).

T: TRY – to improve yourselves, just as an athlete or musician works hard to get where they are going.

Rev'd Topham and Rev'd King performed the ashing ceremony and children were welcomed to approach the altar and and have a mark of ashes placed on their forehead. Tthe service provided a wonderful learning, spiritual experience for everyone.
