We enjoyed a wonderful celebration of the Arts on a beautifully sunny evening in July! With PTA refreshments and our Young Entrepreneurs' sale to keep everyone busy, the orchestra and swing band played under the canopy. Upstairs in the hall and drama studio, an amazing exhibition of artwork was on display.
Every child submitted a piece of work which was mounted and framed and professionally exhibited in the hall, while in the drama studio, an array of other art work was presented, including, pastel drawings and paintings, collage, models and pop-up books.
On a hot Thursday, 17 athletes participated in the Bucks Schools Games at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury. This event is huge and involves 1300 children representing their area of the County in a range of different sports. Following our qualification in June, we represented Chiltern South Bucks in both track and field events. The children were outstanding in their performances but also in terms of their behaviour, sportsmanship and attitude. They were a credit to our school and I am delighted to announce that they were overall winners and gained the title of COUNTY CHAMPIONS! Well done to all children and a huge thank to the dedicated parents for your great support! Thanks must go to Mrs Alburg for her tireless enthusiasm for driving the sport in school!
We now look forward to our Inter-4 athletics match on Tuesday 15th July, where we invite three other schools to our field at Mill Meadow and of course our schools sports day on Wednesday 15th July in which the whole school will participate in a fun day of competitive athletics.
Field Events: 30th June 2014
This event for Years 5 and 6 saw 24 of our upper school children compete against a wide variety of schools in the event held for this year only at Butler's Court School in Beaconsfield whilst the Handy Cross Stadium is redeveloped. The children represented the school in excellent fashion as they participated in standing broad jump, long jump and throwing events. A good number of children achieved first place, thereby gaining the title of "District Champions". Many other children gained either 2nd or 3rd place which is a tremendous achievement at this level of competition. All children were fantastic and the event made a great start to a busy week of sporting competition for our school.
Track Events: 2nd July 2014
We were especially delighted to be taking part in this event at the new venue in Little Marlow, newly opened this week! A fantastic track awaited us for an amazing afternoon of athletics! Although very warm, the children did not disappoint (as we would expect!) and gave their absolute all, wearing their red, blue and gold tops with pride. Again, it was an incredibly successful event for CSPA and due to a large number of individual and team achievements, I am delighted to inform you that were the overall winners on the day. Well done athletes - you were brilliant!
