  • Year 3 trips!

Thu 12 Oct 2023 Miss Gilbert (Year 3 Leader)

This week Year 3 were lucky enough to go on two trips! For our first trip we ventured out into Chalfont St Peter after being sent a very mysterious letter from Zaki Moon (Alien Supermarket Creator), who informed us he would like to flatten our village. Year 3 did not like the sound of this and decided the best option would be to visit our local area in order to create a poster of protest. Year 3 enjoyed using our tally charts to mark how our local area uses its land.

On Thursday, we were treated to a visit to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden. We thoroughly enjoyed walking about the Mandir, where we got to see some beautiful shrines and sacred places. We were also invited to stay and watch the Arti Ceremony. We learnt some amazing facts, like, the temple took 3 years to construct and all of the pieces of marble were handcrafted!! We also learned about the reason for the temple's construction and what it means to be a guru. We attended an Understanding Hinduism exhibition where we saw more beautiful shrines, statues and images, and we learnt more interesting facts about Hinduism.

  • A Famous Children's Author visits CSPA!

Wed 11 Oct 2023 Mrs Newton (English Leader)

On Wednesday, we were very excited to welcome famous children’s author and script-writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce to Chalfont St Peter Academy. Also known for his spectacular 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and the more recent Platinum Jubilee ‘Paddington and the Queen’ sketch, Frank delighted the whole school with memories from his own childhood, as well as extracts from his books for children, including his latest adventure, called “The Wonder Brothers”.

Our pupils enjoyed the opportunity to ask Frank lots of interesting questions about his life and writing and were able to receive their pre-ordered, personally signed copies of “The Wonder Brothers” from Frank himself after the event.

Frank also encouraged the whole school to enter the BBC 500 Words 2023 Story Competition, where he is one of the judges, looking forward to reading their creative compositions and choose a winner!

We would like to thank Frank Cottrell-Boyce for taking the time to visit our school and giving us all a very entertaining and inspirational afternoon. Mrs Newton (English Leader)
