  • Walk to School Week

    Fri 25 Nov 2016

Walk to School Week November 2016

We have had a very successful ‘Walk To School and Be Healthy Week’ with lots of families walking to school and bringing lovely packed lunches including fruit and vegetables. The CoOp were particularly generous, providing a wide range of fruit and vegetables for each class and enough for two days – the children loved it and many tried different food to what they would normally have.

On Tuesday the children enjoyed wearing their ‘groovy shoes’ and ‘groovy slippers’ to school. Thanks to the ‘Walk To School and Be Healthy’ Y6 team, who seemed to embrace their responsibilities by having lots of fun at the same time, we have now collected data on each class and the healthiest class will receive the ‘Walk To School and Be Healthy’ trophy. Lots of lovely homework selfies are gradually filtering through (the deadline for many classes is Monday 28th November). The winner from each class will receive a prize and judging will commence next week. Thank you for the enormous amount of ‘Parking Pledges’ received but please keep sending these in next week.

The ‘Walk to School and Be Healthy’ team closed the week with a conga in the playground! We look forward to another week in the summer!

  • Rememberance Parade

Remembrance Sunday Parade 13th November 2016

Today, over 50 children from Chalfont St Peter Church of England Academy represented the school for the Remembrance Sunday Parade. Many of our pupils were also part of the parade, representing organisations such as the Scouts and Guides.

Amidst bright autumn sunshine, the parade gathered at the top of Market Plac in Chalfont St Peter and paraded behind the band from the Girls' Air Cadets to gather around the War Memorial in the churchyard of St Peter's Parish Church.

The pupils of Chalfont St Peter CE Academy looked magnificent in their uniforms and in such large numbers! Following a short ceremony lintroduced by curate, Ben Topham where each organisation laid their wreaths at the foot of the memorial, the children then proceeded into the Church Hall for a lovely children's service led by the children and youth worker Luke Maxted. Singing songs and hymns which we sing in school, "Where have all the flowers gone?", " The Prayer of St Francis of Assissi", "Love is flowing like a river" and " Give me oil in my lamp" our children sang well to add to the large numbers which packed the hall. The service reflected on the need for all people to 'get along' and mix together, and the constant drive to achieve peace, encouraging our new generation of children to be "peacemakers".

As Headteacher, I felt an immense sense of pride in our children who represented the school so fantastically. Well done and thank you to members of staff and friends of the school who also paraded with us.
