  • Buckinghamshire County U11 School Table Tennis Championships November 2015

    Mon 30 Nov 2015

The two Chalfont St Peter CE Academy teams found their very best form to compete successfully in the U 11 county table tennis championships on Monday 30th November..

Both academy teams, one girls’ team and one boys’ team performed brilliantly during the afternoon, displaying some outstanding skills and determination to do their very best.

The boys’ team, comprised of Louis Basnayake, Sonny Dalston, Oliver Evans, George Terry and Luca Mailey all who played a significant role in becoming county champions for this year, winning in style over Thorpe House and Farnham Common winning all but one of their matches.

The girls’ team, comprised of Savanna O'Regan, Annabel Rayner, Emma Rayner and Emily Harper were magnificent in overcoming last year’s county finalists Farnham Common. The overall match proved to be very tense and exciting with both teams played some thrilling table tennis. The match was so close that at the end of their eight matches the score was even with both teams winning four of their matches, thanks to a wonderful display by Emily Harper, who managed to win the final game to draw the match.  Therefore, a count-back was necessary to find out how many individual games were won by both teams – the result was incredibly, 16 games each!

Therefore a countback of points was necessary to identify the wining team! I am absolutely delighted to confirm that

Chalfont St Peter won by 5 points scoring 307 points during the match compared with Farnham Common who scored a very good 302 points.

Well Done Chalfont St Peter CE Academy!

The double victory means that both teams qualify for the National Zone Finals on Saturday, 30th January 2016. The venue and arrangements will be confirmed shortly.

My special thanks go to the players and supporters for a wonderful afternoon and to Mrs Rowley for her administration during the championships.

  • Christingle Service in St Peter's Church 29th November 2015

    Sun 29 Nov 2015

Children gathered in the family service in our local church today for the occasion of Christingle, led by newly ordained Ben Topham on this first Sunday of Advent.

The service which focused on the theme of Jesus, as the "Light of the World" involves the creation of Christingles, made from an orange, with a red ribbon around the circumference,

representing Jesus' love for the world; four cocktail sticks with sweets on which represent the four seasons and the fruits of creation and a candle in the centre which represents Jesus, as the light of the world.

Our children turned out in great numbers for the service and sang a song from 'Witnesses' our school production for Y3 and Y4 this year. A delightful occasion for the children to represent the school and be in church to begin the build up and preparations for Christmas.

  • Remembrance November 2015

    Sun 08 Nov 2015
On Remembrance Sunday, over 50 children from throughout the school turned out to represent our school, smartly presented in the uniform to take part in the parade through the village to the War Memorial in St Peter's Churchyard. The children were excellent in their behaviour and sang really well during the children's service in the church hall afterwards.
