  • Year 6 German Taster Morning

Thu 18 Jul 2019 Mrs Downie

Danke schön to Mrs Emma Whittle and the Yr 10 boys from Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, who treated the Year 6 children to a morning of fun-filled games and activities as an introduction to German. It was a lovely, inspirational MFL ending to their four-year CSPA journey and we hope that as a result of this morning’s Taster German Session, some of our children might feel inspired to consider German as an option in their secondary schools.  The Goethe Institute kindly donated an array of prizes for pupils to enjoy.

We are very grateful to Mrs Whittle for taking time out of her very busy schedule to prepare the boys, and to the boys themselves from DCGS for being such wonderful MFL ambassadors!

  • Year 6 Church Retreat Day

Mon 15 Jul 2019 Miss Murray
On the morning of Monday 15th July,  Year 6 enjoyed one of their special leavers' events and walked to our local St Peter's Church to participate in a range of activities. They reflected on the past years at our school and looked ahead to their future in Year 7.  Pupils worked with church leaders and volunteers to create two original songs about secondary school.  They also collaborated in teams to protect eggs which were then dropped from the church spire.  We're lucky to have such close links with our village and church community, so would like to extend our thanks to the volunteers who supported our pupils in their reflections and creativity.
  • Sports Day

Wed 10 Jul 2019 Mrs Alburg
Well done to everyone for another wonderful Sports Day on Wednesday! My thanks go to the children for their amazing effort and team spirit, to the Year 6 Sports Leaders for their outstanding motivation and support, to the members of staff for their hard work and to the parents for cheering the children and encouraging the children all the way to the line.
  • Y6 - Zoolab

Tue 09 Jul 2019 Miss Murray
On Tuesday 9th of July, Year 6 had a thrilling morning meeting some curious creatures with Zoolab.  We had slimy, furry, scaly, leggy and tickly friends introduced to us by Rhys from the company.  Even though some of our pupils were a little hesitant to begin with, everyone had a fantastic time and some children overcame their fears to handle a range of critters!
  • Young Entrepreneurs

Mon 08 Jul 2019 Mrs Gale

The Young Entrepreneurs have had a hugely successful year and have gained a thorough understanding of how a business works and how a profit is made. They have proved they have the ability to work as part of a team and have shown a real willingness to take responsibility and show initiative. As a reward for all their hard work and commitment, the 35 Young Entrepreneurs visited the Breadhouse and Unique Like You. They were able to choose a piece of pottery to paint as well as having a brownie and milkshake treat. We look forward to announcing our Young Entrepreneurs of The Year 2019 at our end of year presentation assembly.

Oliver - Being a Young Entrepreneur has taught me how to balance a budget and work as a team.

Matilda - I have learnt the importance of teamwork and to develop my time management skills.

Ben - I have learnt to always plan ahead and have definitely improved my communication skills.

Daniel - It was great to have such an amazing trip as a treat for all our hard work.
