Last Thursday, we took both a boys' and girls' team to Milton Keynes to compete in the county finals. It was a new experience for most involved, having never played this sport before. The morning was spent with the boys' tournament, competing against four other teams. They started really well, beating the first two teams confidently. It all came down to the final game to be crowned county champions, but were unfortunate to be up against a strong Gerrards Cross team, resulting in our boys finishing second.
This led onto the afternoon in which it was the girls' turn. Having watched the boys and seeing how much quicker it was, they had an idea of how to play, but again it was the first time playing for a number of those involved. Unfortunately, the girls' lost their first game, but they fought back well and won the next game, finally drawing the last game against Gerrards Cross; they also finished in second place.
It was a very enjoyable day with both teams competing well, representing our school admirably and thoroughly enjoying the occasion.
Having only started the cheerleading club a few weeks ago, the first group of cheerleaders are progressing very well. There was extreme excitement at the club this week as the 'Pom Bears' had their delivery of pom poms; we think they look wonderful! The team is learning a lot already towards their routine and look forward to sharing it with friends and family once it is finished.
Last Sunday, 18 gymnasts competed in the Regional Floor and Vault Championships. We took a girls team: Chloe S, Eliza P, Ruby W, Renèe R, Daisy S and Matilda D. They girls team performed fantastically and came 3rd which was a brilliant result. Then we had the boys team: Toby R, Joseph W, Teddy R, Lucas V, Rory W and George W. These boys really stepped up and came 1st which was an excellent result and means they are southern champions! Lastly we had the mixed team: Luke B, Ellis H, Milly M, Jodie M, Grace B and Ella C. They also came 1st and are the southern champions! Along with the boys team, they will be going to represent CSPA at the national final in May. We are so proud of these gymnasts and inspired by their resilience and talent! Good Luck to the gymnasts for their national finals coming up.
