Walk To School and Be Healthy Week is next week!

Our Spring term theme is 'Walking With Wildlife’. The weather looks warmer for walking to school next week so please make a big effort. If you need to drive, try to park further away and walk; our neighbours will be most grateful. Greet our lovely Year 6 Road Safety Officers, who will be rewarding children with raffle tickets and look out for any wildlife on your way to school. To maximise as many opportunities to be as active as possible, we would like children to wear their PE kit to school every day next week.

This is a perfect time to get back into good habits to become fitter and healthier. There will be exercise before school run by Scott at Core Fitness. During play times, the Year 6 Sports Leaders will be organising challenges and Year 4 will be running a mile every day. Please make sure your child comes to school with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks and in their packed lunch. We will be collecting data to find out which class is the healthiest to win the trophy.

Tuesday is Groovy Shoesday. Children must wear their PE kit and can wear or bring their favourite shoes or slippers for the classroom. No donations are required.

Mrs Lipscombe will be teaching children about the connections of wild flowers to support wildlife and will be planting different species with each year group.

Erin L, Emma and Lola in Year 6 will be raising awareness of our urban wildlife during a special Collective Worship on Wednesday.

Finally, since International Earth Hour is on Saturday 25th, we will be staging our own Earth Hour on Friday, so at 10:00-11:00am we will be turning off all screens, computers, lights and even the kettles in the staff room!
It is sure to be a little bit different and a fun week for all.

Mrs Botia (PSHE Leader)
