U11 Football League Champions April 2016

ur Year 6 8-aside football season has been a challenging one - a little like a rollercoaster journey. Our campaign started with a national school tournament where we were disappointed to be knocked out in the second round by Gerrards Cross with a break away goal after we had dominated the game.
A great experience for the boys was particpating in the Wycombe Wanderers Tournament where we played a group of schools which we had never encountered before.  Again, crucial experience playing a good level of school football.
In the cup competition we played Little Chalfont in the Quarter Final beating them 5-2 very convincingly which set up a semi final battle against Stoke Poges. Stoke Poges have been great competition for CSPA over the years.  This semi final seemed to follow suit as we were beaten 2-0.  The boys were devasteated but we had a chance to redeem ourselves in the league.
Our league campaign consisted of matches against St Josephs (5-0 win), Butlers Court (1-0 win) and Gerrards Cross (1-1 draw). This set up a league decider against our biggest challengers ...... Stoke Poges.  The winner of this game would win the league and we had a score to settle.  We were 1-0 down at half time and I reassured the boys that they were firmly in the game and we just needed to want it more than the opposition to come away victors.  Soon after the half time whistle, the tackles started flying in and things started to go our way.  From a George corner, Thomas volleyed with the outside of his foot to equalise.  The boys were buzzing but still focused.  Then, half way through the second half, Josh Tollafield picked up the ball on the corner of their box, turned and curled into the top corner!  An unbelievable goal that won us the game.  An incredible team performance that finished their football school journey in style.  So well done to: Jayden J, Louis B, Sonny D, Jasper G, Dom H, Josh T, George T, Ollie E, Joe T, Callum P and Thomas H for a wonderful season!
