Treasure Island

Upper School Christmas Production of Treasure Island, December 2016

Children of Year 5 and 6 at Chalfont St Peter CE Academy, brought the ‘West End’ to Chalfont St Peter last week, performing on a grand scale, their unique Christmas Production of ‘Treasure Island’. Headteacher, Elizabeth Underwood wrote the script, produced and directed the show and worked with Paul Smith, a past Bucks music adviser who composed the songs.

The story, based on the classic by Robert Louis Stevenson tells the adventure of Jim Hawkins who accompanies Dr Livesey and Squire Trelawney on a voyage in search of treasure which finds them on board ship with Long John Silver and a crew of mutinous buccaneers. With 180 children on stage, the singing raised the roof and attracted audiences to pack the hall during a massive eight performances over two weeks!

Mr Paul Smith, retired music adviser for the county and composer of the music and songs said, “Such lovely young people and so enthusiastic; they are real credit to the school. There was not a weakness amongst all those who had singing or speaking parts and it would be unfair to single out anyone for special praise as all were wonderful.”

Mrs Elizabeth Underwood,  Headteacher said,” I am so proud of the children; they work so hard to achieve such fantastic results in such a short timescale. Once again, they have astounded their audiences over 7 performances  and delivered such high quality and professionalism on stage. We are really proud of all the children. “
