Year 3 Visit to Ashridge July 2015

Year 3 enjoyed their visits to the Ashridge Estate in Berkhamsted this week.  Despite the drizzle, the children engaged enthusiastically in the task of making mini sculptures using natural materials and exploring the woods.  They planned giant pictures of animals within their groups and then demonstrated great team work in producing these, by carrying huge tree branches and bags of leaves. Unfortunately we were unable to climb the monument to view the sculptures as the steps were too slippery but some of the staff ventured up to take aerial photos which we later displayed at school.  We returned with rather wet feet after a great day out in the open air, feeling that we had experienced a little of the Andy Goldsworthy style of making art out of natural materials.
