School Proms at the Royal Albert Hall

“On Wednesday, 7th November we were lucky enough to be taken to The Royal Albert Hall to watch the Music for Youth Junior Proms. We arrived at school at 5 pm, full of excitement! As it became dark, we got onto the coach and settled down for our journey to London for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. When we arrived, we sat in our seats right next to the stage. When the music started, we all got very excited and it sounded lovely. There were around 2,000 – 3,000 people playing all together. Our favourite performances included the Steel Band at the start, Brass solos and the ‘Buddy’ group from Oxfordshire. This was made up of 29 schools with choirs, dancers and people moving to music in wheelchairs. We all managed to sing a piece together with the performers right at the end for the finale– it was incredible! We returned to school at about 11 pm. Even though it was a late night, it was still an amazing evening and we had a lot of fun and even came home with a balloon.”
