Rotary Writing Competition

Three of our pupils enjoyed a wonderful prize giving celebration last week, along with their families and Mrs Newton and Ms Meek. Elliot Brown (Year 3), Lucy Hobbs (Year 5) and Abby Rosser (Year 6) were all winners in the Rotary Club's annual Christmas Story Competition. The ceremony was held at the Damien Hall, Great Missenden and it was attended by the Presidents and District Governors of the Amersham, Chesham and Great Missenden combined Rotary Clubs.

All of the winning stories were read aloud and beautifully brought to life by local actor and youth worker Nick Gallant. The stipulation of no more than 100 words meant that the writing had to be concise with good use of vocabulary and grammar. Elliot's story "No Fighting Today" was a poignant and memorable account of his great grandfather's wartime Christmas truce experience whilst Lucy's "Disco Santa" and Abby's "The Elf Inspection" highly amused the audience.

The children received certificates, book tokens and golden tickets to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden.

We would like to thank the Rotary Club for running the event and enthusing the children in their writing again this year.
