Hannukah
Year 5 had a wonderful afternoon today, learning about Hannukah. It is known as the Festival of Light and is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the re-dedication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem. Mrs Smith, one of our Year 5 parents provided an excellent insight into the festival, thoroughly enjoyed by the children. She described how the lights of a unique candelabrum are lit, one additional light on each night of the holiday, progressing to eight on the final night. With a story and interactive activities, the children had first hand information about this religious festival which added to their RE learning for this term.
