Information and Communication Technology


Information and communication technology (ICT) prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world in which work and other activities are increasingly transformed by access to varied and developing technology. All pupils have access to an individual computer during dedicated weekly computing lessons. In addition, we are gradually building upon our mobile technology provision through the use of IPADS, laptops and IPODS.

Pupils use computers to find, analyse, exchange and present information, in an exciting and creative way. Pupils are taught and reminded regularly about internet safety and all parents are required to sign the network security policy.


Computing capability is enhanced through the daily delivery of lessons through the use of 'Clevertouch' interactive screens by teachers with a constantly developing range of software. Pupils' skill development includes the use of programming software, the Microsoft Office suite of programs and a range of APPS available using mobile technology. 


The school website is an invaluable source of information, which is constantly updated. The children's homework is uploaded, which allows them to check and download any information required, as well as parents accessing newsletters, absence forms and keeping up to date with what is going on in school. The school is well placed, with the introduction of our CSPA Cloud. 


Cloud technology enables children to safely email each other within the managed, safe and protected environment together with the ability to share documents and work collaboratively.

As they progress through the school, children develop their design technology capability through combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding as they create a variety of products. Children’s enterprise and ability to work as a member of a team contributes to their success, as they acquire a range of skills and work with a variety of materials and resources, through a problem-solving approach. Activities take place within a range of contexts, such as home, school, recreation, community, business and industry, in order to improve the children’s understanding of the significance of technology to the economy and the quality of life.
